Beginning April 17 and continuing through May 5, organizers have brought together speakers on 15 different financial subjects such as renting, consumer debt, staging your home for sale, reaching your financial goals, and estate planning. For kids there will even be two “Big Read” days with story times, songs, and other fun activities.

“You’re never too young to learn that saving is fun,” said Kristi Cutts, Winnebago County Money Smart Week Steering Committee chairperson.

Seminar locations include the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry, the Oshkosh Public Library, the Oshkosh Seniors Center North, Apple Blossom Books and the Winneconne Public Library. Specific dates, times, and locations, as well as a complete listing of programs, can be found at www.citizensfirst.com/msw.

In addition to the seminars, coordinators have organized the Money Smart Week Couponing Contest, on April 24 at Festival Foods, and the Money Smart Living Conference on April 28 at the Highway 44 branch of CitizensFirst Credit Union.

Couponing contest prizes will go to the contestant who makes the best possible food purchases using coupons. Keynote speakers at the Money Smart Living Conference will be TV personality and cookbook author, Amy Hanten, and blogger Dannelle Gay, who will recount how she saved $40,000 in less than a year.

Money Smart Week is an initiative of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago aimed at providing educational events and activities that help consumers better manage their personal finances. The state coordinating sponsor is the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.
